Welcome words from EHF President
The European Headache Society celebrates its 35 years of activity reinforcing its cultural identity strongly rooted on 38 federated Societies. The strategy, always based on the model of communicating vessels, has enriched itself in time with the acquisition of a scientific journal, an editorial activity centred on opinions of own expert groups, an educational flow channelled through the EHF book series. We must now direct our efforts towards the young scientists that will have to lead the Society soon and this mission has become concrete with the creation of the EHF School for Advanced Studies. We will support our best youngsters in a competitive path based on international interactions. Their effort will be honoured through the offer of scholarships for our Congresses where they will have their autonomy.
The debate with other societies whose competences overlap ours even having different missions will still be favoured. Cultural enrichment comes from the observation of the same thing from different point of views. EHF will meet Europe on the hottest multidisciplinary topics, and headache in modern medicine is the perfect example of this challenge, I might dare to say one of its cornerstones.
Lastly, the new EHF Board of Directors has been voted and elected through competition and not co-optation.
Many look at us, we must be up to the task that 38 Federated Nations have assigned us through their vote. They have called us for independence, collegiality, impartiality, and excellence.
The 11th and 12th Congresses, respectively in Rome and Florence, will be the litmus test of the Board’s mandate.
EHF is Europe and it will be our main duty to be up to these demands.
