Welcome words from EHF President
Dear colleagues and friends,
the European Headache Federation (EHF) is a non-profit organisation led by expert volunteers. Our aim is to promote headache science, make the best treatment available to everyone in need and improve the quality of medical care for people with headache.
We unite national member societies and cooperate with many others such as the European Academy of Neurology (EAN), the European Medical Agency (EMA) and the Global Campaign Against Headache, an official partner of the World Health Organisation (WHO). This network allows us to reach out to the global community of clinicians and scientists.
This however, is not enough. Patients with headache are too many, the number of neurologists is too few. Sufficient care for headache patients should unavoidably involve general practitioners, internists, gynaecologists and pharmacists. Therefore, EHF will reach out to cooperate with these professional organisations too.
The voice of people with headache should raise, their demand to receive adequate care should be heard. To ensure this, EHF will work closely with the European Migraine and Headache Alliance (EMHA).
EHF supports and promotes young doctors and scientists through travel grants, regional teaching courses and the School of Advanced Studies (SAS). The best scholars of SAS are the future of EHF.
In Florence, the new board of EHF was elected. It is a great honour for me to serve EHF as president for the next two years. All the ambitious tasks can be realized only with the active educational and communicational contribution of enthusiastic colleagues. Our federation is living from its members and for its members. In my power as the acting president of EHF for the years 2018-2020, I cordially invite all our colleagues to join forces with us and work for the future of EHF and for a better future of our patients.
